Top-level navigation

Top-level navigation is the tab bar that shows at the top of your documentation pages. This is the default view in the default documentation exporter. It can be turned on and off — if turned off, it will switch to left navigation mode. The structure of your groups and pages always stays the same.

Turn on/off top-level navigation

  1. 1.
    In the top bar, click the view icon (tabs or left column)
  2. 2.
    Your navigation will change automatically

Sections

A section is any group or page placed at the top level of your documentation tree. If you are using top-level navigation (default), the sections will show as tabs in your menu. If you are using left navigation, they will show up as options in the left menu.
If the section is a page, the navigation will link to that page only. The page section can be used if you want to highlight certain pages that do not belong in a specific category.

Add a new section

  1. 1.
    Click + Add to add a new section
  2. 2.
    Choose New page or New group from the menu
  3. 3.
    The section will be added to the navigation
  4. 4.
    Rename the page or group

Edit a section

  1. 1.
    In the section menu click Edit
  2. 2.
    Rename the section in place and hit the enter key to submit

    To edit a section (page), open the page and edit the title in the editor

    In the section menu click Delete page
  2. 2.
    In the dialog, confirm the deletion

Delete a section (group)

A group and its contents cannot be deleted, but it can be ungrouped and the contents moved.
  1. 1.
    In the section menu click Ungroup
  2. 2.
    In the dialog, confirm the change
  3. 3.
    Contents of the group will be moved to the parent level
