Create a document

When document-first works best

  • You need to agree on goals and constraints first
  • You want to capture decisions and feedback in one place
  • The UI direction depends on requirements or unknowns

Create a document directly in the prompt window at the Portal home in the same way as a prototype. Create a prompt, add attachments and switch the button from Create prototype to
Draft document.

Writing a document with AI

In the Supernova Portal, you can align with your team in a fully editable document. The multiplayer editor allows everyone to collaborate or let an AI agent write on your behalf based on your team’s feedback.

Writing editor

You can edit documents in Portal the same way you’d work in tools like Notion, Confluence, or the Supernova Design system platform.

Portal documents use a Markdown editor with familiar, native features:

  • Type “/” to insert content blocks (widgets)
  • Embed prototypes directly into the document
  • Insert attachments (images, PDFs, files) for context

Your teammates can also:

  • Comment on your document
  • Write with you in real-time
  • Ask Agent to make changes

This makes documents a great place to keep briefs, decisions, meeting notes, and feedback summaries right next to the prototypes.

Writing agent

You can also prompt the Writing agent to improve or update your document.

How it works:

  • You describe what you want changed (rewrite, shorten, structure, clarify, etc.)
  • The agent returns suggestions
  • You review them and accept or reject what you like

This keeps you in control while enabling faster, more consistent edits.

Move from document → prototype

Once the brief is sufficiently clear, create a prototype based on that context. This keeps the “why” and decisions close to the UI work.

  • Click on Create a prototype directly in the chat
  • Mention “@” the document while prompting the prototype
