This version was released on February 4th, 2025.
Introducing a faster, more efficient way to add Figma images — simply use a URL! This allows for quicker image rendering without having to load every layer in a file, making it easier to manage when working with large Figma files.
Plus, you can now update a single Figma image without re-importing the entire file.
Plus, we've improved the performance of the documentation editor, eliminating loading times for common actions to deliver a significantly faster editing experience.
Add Figma frame by URL
From any block, adding an image will open the Select image dialog. You can choose whether to add a Figma layer by URL, or to upload an image file from your computer. You can now add an image file with drag and drop using the drop zone.
You can still select from a list of layers in a Figma file under the Advanced tab.

Fetch updates for individual Figma layers
Supernova regularly checks for updates (if autoupdate is enabled) and refreshes the Figma layers used in your documentation. You can also request updates on demand.
We have improved this existing feature by adding an Update frame option, which imports only the Figma image you want to update.
This makes it much faster and more efficient than updating the entire file when you only want to fetch updates for a handful of images.

(much) Faster documentation editor!
We've enhanced the speed and responsiveness of the documentation editor and removed loading from common actions to provide a much faster experience. Most frequent hierarchy actions now happen instantly, letting you work without interruption.
The following actions on pages, tabs, and groups now happen instantly:
- Move
- Rename
- Toggle visibility
- Toggle privacy
- Change status
We’ve also rebuild the loading part of documentation pages necessary for multiplayer so that it feels much smoother and, most importantly, no longer requires a full page load with switching between pages - instead, page metadata are loaded instantly (so switching between pages is instant as well) and content loads afterwards with nice skeleton signifying loading state.
Performance of pages with huge amount of content was significantly improved as well. Before optimization, even typing was delayed - now it's up to 10x faster!

Before (246ms! per key press on content-heavy page)

After (25ms per keystroke on the same page)

With these changes, your day-to-day work should feel smoother and much more pleasant. But we are far from done, as our goal with this part of Supernova is to build the most amazing documentation editor in existence - and that includes having the experience snappy and seamless. TLDR: More to come, stay tuned!
