Markdown blocks now work with Search and MCP

Search and MCP can now read what's inside your Markdown blocks, and you can see it while you edit.

This version was released on September 2, 2026.

Supernova now fetches the files behind your Markdown blocks and keeps their content. Before, that content appeared only after your docs were published. Now Search can find it, MCP can serve it, and you can see it while editing.

AI agents can read your READMEs

Your design system READMEs live in the design system repo, but most people who need them work somewhere else, like a product engineer in the app repo or a designer prototyping with AI. Through MCP, their agents can now read those READMEs alongside your tokens, components, and guidelines, without needing access to that repo.

See the content while you edit

Markdown blocks now render inside the editor, so you can check how an external file sits on the page before you publish. When the source file changes, pull the latest version from the block.

Private repos connect through Integrations

Markdown files in private repos now authenticate through Supernova Integrations. This works with GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, and Azure DevOps, and replaces the Markdown tokens in Documentation settings.

We moved your existing tokens over automatically where we could. If a private Markdown block stops loading, reconnect its source in Integrations.

Nothing else changes. Your existing blocks and URLs stay the same.
