What are AI credits
AI credits serve as the currency for utilizing AI features, such as asking questions and building prototypes in Supernova.
When you use Ask AI to answer questions about your design system or use Portal Create to build prototypes, credits are consumed based on how much AI processing is needed.
Types of AI credits
- Monthly AI credits: Included with your plan and renewed monthly. Unused credits don't carry over.
- Additional AI credits: Extra credits you can purchase as needed. They expire in 1 year after purchase. They are used only when the workspace has already consumed its monthly AI credits.
Credits included per plan
Credits for paid subscriptions are calculated based on the number of purchased seats. The Free plan also includes a limited number of credits.

Boost monthly credits
Your base credits are calculated from your seat count. You can also boost your monthly credits if you're doing extensive prototyping or have high Al usage needs.

Supernova Portal uses a usage-based credit system for AI-powered search and assistance through Ask AI.
Credits are consumed when you ask questions about your design system, with costs varying based on the complexity and depth of information processing required. Simple lookups use fewer credits, while comprehensive analysis across multiple data sources uses more. This ensures you only pay for the actual AI processing you use.

- Ask AI questions about your design system (for example: search for specific tokens, understand component patterns, etc.)
- Build prototypes using AI with Create
- Write product documents with help from AI agents

When exactly will my monthly AI credits renew?
Your monthly AI credits renew on the same day each month that you purchased your subscription.
For example: For a yearly subscription purchased on February 17th, credits renew on the 17th of every month. To see your exact renewal date, hover over the info icon next to your monthly AI credits in your workspace.

Every member of the workspace can consume AI credits.
