Managing connected Figma files

Manage the Figma files you're using as design data sources.

You can manage all connected Figma files in the Design data section. Clicking on the Figma card in the menu to the left of the screen will open an overview of your Figma integration.

In the Figma integration section, you'll see a table with all of your connected files in it.

Here, you can see details about your file, how updates are being imported (automatically or manually), and when the file last imported updates. You can also view the import summary from here, and manually import updates from any file if you wish.

In the Connected files table, click the View summary button the appears when hovering on the relevant file row to open your import summary.

In it, you can see exactly what was imported to Supernova from your Figma file, and whether any issues occurred.

  • In the general section, you can see how Figma frames and components were imported.
  • In the design tokens section, you can see how many tokes were added, and how many were updated or removed if some have already been imported from this file.
  • In the assets section, same as tokens, you'll see how many were added, updated and removed.
  • You'll also see any errors that occured during import. You can find an explanation of these in Troubleshooting.

Edit import scope

You can choose what does and doesn't get imported from your connected files.

  1. At the end of the relevant row in the Connected Figma file table, click ••• to open the context menu.
  2. Click Edit import scope.
  3. In the dialog, you can select which design data scopes you want to be import. These scopes will also be applied to any future import of updates to your design data.
  4. Click Save and import. Your scope selection will be saved, and any new data will be imported.

To import updated from an individual file:

  • In the Connected files table, click the Import updates button that appears when hovering on the relevant file row.

To import updates from all connected files:

  • At the top right corner of the screen, click Import all updates.

Automatic updates

Enabling automatic updates means that Supernova will import any changes or additions to your connected files hourly.

To enable automatic updates:

  1. Hover on the relevant file row. You'll see a ••• button at the end of the row.
  2. Click ••• to open the context menu.
  3. Select Enable automatic updates from this menu.
  4. To disable automatic updates, follow the same steps as above, but select Disable automatic updates from the context menu.

Remove file

If you no longer want a Figma file to be connected to Supernova, you can remove it.

  1. Hover on the relevant file row. You'll see a ••• button at the end of the row.
  2. Click ••• to open the context menu.
  3. Select Remove file from this menu.
  4. A dialog will open. Click Remove file to confirm and remove the file.

Reconnect a Figma file

If the connection to a Figma file or authorization is lost, you won't be able to import any updates from the file.

You can easily reconnect a file by hovering on the relevant file row, and clicking Reconnect Figma.
