Custom documentation templates

Customize a new documentation template for your brand.

null

The documentation editor comes with a default documentation template (also called a documentation exporter) already installed, so you can get started quickly. You can optionally clone this and make changes to it in order to customize a new documentation template for your brand.

Custom templates can have custom properties, which will appear in the settings tab of the documentation editor. Here, you can override the default settings to make it your own.

You can find Custom documentation templates in the Advanced settings tab of your Documentation settings.

Edit custom properties

Once your custom documentation template is installed, you'll see new options for customization in the documentation editor settings menu (if this exporter has custom properties).

Here, you can make changes to how your published documentation will render.

  1. In your documentation editor, click the Settings tab.
  2. Select a section other than the default which contains a list of custom template properties.
  3. Edit the properties however you like. You can choose to enter a static value (i.e. a hex value) or, select a token from your design system, or leave it empty to use the exporter defaults
  4. Publish the documentation to see the new property values applied.
