Navigation menu settings

On your documentation site, you can choose between having your navigation menu entirely on the side, or split between both the top and side panels.

You can choose between navigation options in the dropdown menu at the top of the left navigation panel in your documentation editor.

  1. Click the navigation menu icon (shown above) to open the menu.
  2. In the menu, select Side only.
  3. This setting isn’t reflected in the editor, only in your live documentation. Preview your documentation to see how the navigation menu will look when published.
  4. Click Publish to apply this setting to your live documentation site.

Below is an example of how Side only navigation looks in published documentation. All of your groups and pages will be displayed in the side navigation panel, and the top panel will be empty.

To switch your navigation to both the top and side panels, follow the same steps as above.

  1. Click the navigation menu icon (shown above) to open the menu.
  2. In the menu, select Top and side.
  3. This setting isn’t reflected in the editor, only in your live documentation. Preview your documentation to see how the navigation menu will look when published.
  4. Click Publish to apply this setting to your live documentation site.

Below is an example of how Top and side navigation looks in published documentation. Your primary groups (the most top-level groups in your documentation) will be displayed in the top panel. All subgroups and pages will be displayed in the side navigation panel.
